The Boiler House, Manchester- Community workshops (006571)

This project will develop a new community centre in Moss Side. The project will be based at the Boiler House which previously functioned as a district heating building and later a housing association depot (for One Manchester). The building has huge potential, with a massive 250m2 of warehouse space. This project would develop energy efficient, heated and well-lit workshops in the Boiler House so these can be used for community workshops in DIY, woodwork and other practical skills. Various community activities held in 2018 and have found there to be a large demand within the local community. Activities will promote mental health and well-being, sustainability and care for the environment, and encourage skills-building and sharing.
