The Bridge Assoc – Training Unit and Community Facility Development

The organisation aims to provide vocational training and personal development opportunities for adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities in the Antrim/Newtownabbey borough council area, supported by strong partnerships with local health and social care trusts.
Their current facility is at full capacity, supporting 32 trainees daily and the need for additional space, to be able to extend their services to additional beneficiaries, is apparent due to an increasing waiting list.
The project will provide a new training unit and community facility, significantly improving the quality of life of adults with learning disabilities and integration into the their community.
The new facility will allow the organisation to increase their capacity to 50 trainees daily, including the ability to accommodate up to 4 wheelchair users.
The newly constructed facility will include:
-Canteen and kitchen area
-Gym
-Trainee room
-Showers and changing facility
– Workshop
– Craft room and workshop
-3 classrooms
– 1 meeting and 1 staff room
– Polytunnel
– Social enterprise space
– Flexible community hub space
– Community boardroom and meeting room
– Car parking and outdoor landscaped area
