The Childcare & Community Centre, Wigan - Lift replacement and solar panels (008217)

A new lift and 14 solar panels. The Childcare & Community Centres, formerly Ashton & District YMCA was built in 1998, the lift was installed at this time and has been a trusty servant to the organisation for 27 years, it is now nearing the end of its life. The centre would love to generate their own electricity via solar. The vast majority of community events are on the first floor hall with the lift in constant use by parents, staff and visitors to the numerous community groups which are run. There are frequent queues for the lift when children's activities are held in the hall with parents/ grandparents and carers bringing children upstairs.
