Projects / The Colin Glen Forest Park Biodiversity Enhancement Programme

The Colin Glen Forest Park Biodiversity Enhancement Programme

This project will enhance the biodiversity of three main habitats within Colin Glen Forest Park; lowland grassland, mixed ash woodland and open water. Funding will be used to employ a full time volunteer co-ordinator for a period of 18 months. This co-ordinator will co-ordinate the efforts of over 1,000 volunteers in the enhancement of these habitats, through habitat management planning, surveying, practical habitat improvement and maintenance. These improvements will be in line with UK and NI habitat and species action plans and the Local Biodiversity Action Plan for Belfast. Support will be provided by the Colin Glen Trust forest park manager, CEO, ranger team and marketing as necessary.
