The Community Allotments Project

To provide an accessible community allotment area within a local Sure Start Children’s Centre in a deprived ward in Ellemsere Port. The aim is to enabling local people of all ages and abilities to start growing their own food and encourage children to learn about growing food. (N.B Allotment plots will not be rented or ‘owned’ by individuals but be used by all members of the community ). Key activities – provide wheel chair access, create a focus for community activity e.g. pergola, seating area, secure storage for tools and equipment, and ideally a composting toilet – but this needs further investigation.
