The Conservation of ponds in mid-Wales

There is a wide spectrum of pond types in mid-Wales from river valleys through farmland to upland pools. Some of these ponds contain rare and protected species others are simply high in biodiversity value. Many ponds are neglected but could be saved if their conservation value was recognised. In 2006 ponds for the first time will become a ‘priority habitat’ making this project to research, record and monitor ponds a timely and valuable exercise
