The Cooper’s Hill project (provisional title)

The stunning Cooper’s Hill Site of Special Scientific Interest has varied habitats including heath, woodland, scrub and bracken. Key BAP species, e.g. green tiger beetle and common lizard, should benefit from this project.
Local volunteers will receive training and equipment for onsite tasks. Children will learn about heathland and a consultation will engage the growing local community. Staff will work with developers building adjacent housing. The promotion of the project will attract new volunteers.
Cooper’s Hill offers a superb vehicle for piloting heathland-monitoring techniques, to be replicated on other reserves. The findings will influence the management and be applied elsewhere.
