The Demand for Low Carbon Fuels – The Municipal Waste Dimension

The study will analyse the DEMAND-side drivers for and barriers to the use of fuels that derive from municipal solid wastes.

The study will review the potential application of a range of different types of fuel, including solid fuels, liquid fuels and gaseous fuels. The status of technologies for the production of such fuels will be covered, but will draw on a number of recent detailed technology reviews to provide a broad assessment of commercial maturity.

The emphasis of the study will be on the economic, environmental and social rationale for the creation of a market in such fuels and on the regulatory regime needed to enable such a market to thrive. A strong theme in the study will be on understanding the conditions in place.in other parts of the EU.
