The Drinkstone War Memorial Institute

Drinkstone has lost amenities over recent years resulting in no community facilities. Public transport is virtually non-existent with no services after 6:00pm. The Drinkstone Memorial Hall was the facility which was a focal point for community life. It was badly damaged by fire in 2010.
Interim measures using the church, homes and other buildings are not ideal but clubs and classes continue to have strong support. A new village hall will be the focal point for the whole community- a green building providing activities meeting the needs of the people of Drinkstone, preventing isolation of older people, providing facilities for children and young people and proper access for use by wheelchair users and those with hearing or sight impairment. Suitable facilities are essential for enabling these groups to be fully included in village activities. A new environmentally sustainable hall will deliver the greatest number of benefits to the village and best value for money We need a new “heart” for the village.
