The Ellenroad Engine House, Newhey – Renovation of Chimney

The Ellenroad Engine site is a scheduled national historic monument. The site includes the original Victorian brick chimney built in 1892. The chimney has had regular maintenance by the Trust but it is now reaching a point where routine maintenance is no longer sufficient. It needs renovation
The renovation work can only be carried out by experienced steeplejack contractors. The mortar joints between the brickwork are becoming increasingly vulnerable to the weather. The project is to repoint.
