The Environmental Resource Centre, Ebbw Vale

The simple, inspirational Environmental Resource Centre (ERC) built on the former steelworks site at Ebbw Vale will be a focal point, resource centre, teaching and community facility for GWT’s People and Wildlife (P&W) project.
The ERC is innovative in design, of high quality, uses Welsh timber and is massively insulated. It includes a classroom for thirty people, office, kitchen, storeroom and toilets.
Sited in a wildlife-rich area, adjacent to a 40 acre wetland valley, it will empower local people, increasing their capacity for environmental action by involving them in community conservation, formal and informal learning, outreach work with disadvantaged groups and the promotion of existing wildlife areas. Ultimately it will improve biodiversity and contribute to creating sustainable communities in the most deprived area of Wales.
