The Forces of Nature

The Forces of Nature project will contribute to our Living Landscape vision by improving the biodiversity value of 50.6 hectares of UK BAP Habitat Lowland Calcareous Grassland. Southorpe Meadow SSSI, Southorpe Paddock SSSI, Wansford Pasture SSSI, Standen’s Pasture, Ring Haw and East Field are Wildlife Trust nature reserves that feature within the John Clare Country Living Landscape and provide valuable stepping stones for our travelling wildlife. They are also noted for their wide variety of plant species including green-winged orchid, salad burnet, large thyme, black knapweed and purple milk vetch. The wet flushes of Wansford Pasture hold notable populations of Southern Marsh Orchids and Flat Sedge.
