The Gaskell House

To save a Grade II* listed building, 84 Plymouth Grove, Ardwick Manchester, which was the home of Elizabeth Gaskell, the famous 19th century writer.
The house is currently on the English Heritage ‘Buildings at Risk Register’and is urgently in need of repair and restoration. It is located in an area of serious deprivation.
Repair of the house will save an architectural and cultural landmark.
Restoration of the house of Elizabeth Gaskell will enable its development as a visitor attraction and community resource for learning and creativity.
It is aimed to deliver the project in two main phases.
Phase One is an enabling schedule of work, to repair and envelop the building.
Phase two is for the full restoration, refurbishment and development of the house , ensuring widest possible public access.
