The Growing Zone, Kippax – Access Improvements

The Growing Zone is a community garden in Kippax. It is being developed with a focus on providing disabled and disadvantaged people in the community with access to the outdoors and gardening. The garden has an open and inclusive access policy it is currently being used daily by various community groups and members of the local community.
This project is for the 2nd phase of a wider 4 phased scheme. Each phase can be delivered independently.
Phase 1 – Acquire land / ground clearance / create various garden areas (e.g. orchard, wildlife area) / secure fencing / connection to mains water / install sheds ( 1 for storage and 1 to house a temporary toilet) / tools and equipment procurement.
Phase 2 – Ground works – level the area and create sensory paths which are accessible to the disabled.
Phase 3 – Toilet provision, activity centre / erection of solar panel to power CCTV.
Phase 4 – Entrance road improvements
