The Haven, Ellesmere Port – Community garden creation (007404)

The Haven is a piece of previously abandoned land, encircled by 22 ex-local authority semi-detached houses, in the industrial town of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. Ellesmere Port ranks in the top 10% of most deprived neighbourhoods in England. The land is owned by Cheshire West and Cheshire (CWaC) council and leased to Chapter, a mental health charity on a peppercorn rent.
It has been Chapter’s aim for the last 12 months to develop the site, in line with the local residents’ wishes, to create a community greenspace asset, where the public can come to access reflective gardens, sensory and growing areas and activities hosted by the community.
