The Heart Project – Transformation of Woodland at Sowerby

The project looks to transform an area of derelict, neglected and vandalised woodland and a bare grassy slope at the heart of Sowerby. The project will open up a ‘pocket park’ for the entire community through improvements works undertaken as conservation volunteering. Young people from across Calderdale will construct recycled paths (1km trail will be created linked to a National Cycleway), clear up litter, remove invasive plants and turn a damp hollow into a dipping pond.

Project costs also include fencing, hedging, provision of recycled benches, promotion, landscape architect/insurance/surveys, Project Officer, Conservation Worker and Youth Worker costs.
