The Implications of the Landfill Directive on disposal of Biodegradable municipal waste (BMW); the risks and benefits of composted BMW to agriculture.

The UK will have to divert up to 7.7 million tonnes of BMW from landfill by 2010. Research is needed to characterise various types of BMW and establish how and where they can be safely and beneficially applied to agricultural land. See attached project summary.
