The Living Classroom: The Power of Water

The project will repair and restore an 180 year old water wheel which is attached to a Grade II listed Tweed Mill which has been recently refurbished. The project will enable the generation of electricity to power half the expected load of a building during working hours and at night will recharge 2 electric vehicles for use by the charity. This will displace 5 tonnes of carbon dioxide (equivalent to driving once around the world) each year. The project will also repair and enhance the leat and weir to help restore free movement of fish in the Bidwell Stream to and from spawning grounds (currently impassable for fish, except at peak flow).
