The Mudpack

The project aims to provide volunteering opportunities for young people who attend Lancaster University to contribute to the species surveying, monitoring and practical management of the biodiversity at Warton Crag Nature Reserve, SSSI. Warton Crag is recognised for its range of butterflies, plants and birds who visit the site, and is home to many UK Priority BAP species including the High Brown Fritillary, barred tooth striped moth, pearl bordered fritillary, dormouse and bat species and the project will work over 1.5 hectares to deliver management works to improve habitats for these species. The project aims to link up with the Ecology and Biology Departments at the University and work closely to provide work experience for students who wish to develop their skills, helping to increase understanding, real life skills and employability.
