The National Mining Memorial

To create the first national mining memorial space in Scotland. This will be housed within the ‘Rewasher’ identified a currently inaccessible building, a three storey brick extension built in 1932 to treat dross from the Washer, an appropriate location for the resource.

1. Refurbishment of the ‘Rewasher’
2. Creation of photographic archive of mineworkers’ public memorials
3. Creation of interpretative resources and signage
4. Decoration and fit-out of ‘Rewasher’
5. Opening of publicly available memorial resource
