The Nook Miners’ Heritage and Nature Trail

The Nook consists of a wetland area created after land subsided from past mining works and then flooded. The site has an old concrete causeway across the water built by miners after the flooding, but it is now in a dangerous and dilapidated state. The project will reconstruct the causeway and transform the Nook into a valuable site for both the community and wildlife. Local people will gain an increased understanding of local heritage and have better, safer access to it, including disabled access. The intention is to designate the site as a local nature reserve providing better protection for wildlife.
