The Pocklington Canal - A Gem In The Landscape

Shading by trees and the choking effect of one or two dominant plant species of the waterway channel, the special scientific interest of the canal is under threat. Therefore, a targeted programme of vegetation works will be implemented that will halt and improve the current decline of the Pocklington Canal SSSI. In addition to the improvements of the natural heritage, these works will also have the added benefit of providing an open vista of the canal to visitors and will increase the opportunities to interpret the canal, sharing and celebrating its historic and environmental significance.
