The Portico Library, Manchester – Kitchen Refurbishment

To improve the kitchen, café and exhibition area which is not fit for purpose. Fixtures are 30 years old, flooring is old carpet which is unhygienic and detrimental to the environmental atmosphere for the historic book collection. The current catering offer limits user numbers and restricts potential income.

To ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation; upgrade outdated equipment; enable improved menu so fulfilling income potential; improve hygiene and environmental conditions. If not undertaken the café may be forced to close and the collection may be irreparably damaged.
