Projects / The Restoration of Newham Grange Farmhouse

The Restoration of Newham Grange Farmhouse

The overall project aims to restore and rejuvenate the Newham Grange Farmhouse, built in 1786, not only as a historical feature of Middlesborough’s past, but as an heritage interpretation and educational centre and community meeting facility aiming to attract visitors from throughout the Tees Valley and beyond.
On the ground floor, a recreated farmhouse kitchen, with an old range and parlour, will be created, giving visitors the experience of traditional farm life, as well as being a facility for demonstrations of crafts/ traditional skills/ meetings for the community.
The first floor of a farmhouse will have a classroom/ training room, incorporating a traditional kitchen, this will be the base for local schools, voluntary groups etc to learn traditional skills.
The project will be complimented by the development of traditional gardens around the farmhouse, the produce from which will be available for use in the training facilities.
