The RSPB West Canvey, (South Essex) – Enhancement of coastal and floodplain grazing marsh project.

This RSPB habitat creation project focuses on the practical management of a 256 ha County Wildlife Site. This County Wildlife Site lies between two special protection area (SPAs) and will create new high quality habitats and features, linking two SPAs. This project aims to restore and improve the condition of 111ha of relict habitat to qualify as UK habitat action plan – coastal and floodplain grazing marsh. Management will be to revitalise a previously intensively drained site, to increase habitat connectivity between sites and to buffer existing nature conservation sites; creating species rich habitats for breeding waders, wintering wildfowl, farmland birds, mammals, invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles and molluscs. Water control structures- build concrete road near reservoir to compensate flooding.
