The Sensory Garden Improvement Project

The sensory Garden is a small formal area (0.2ha) within the Millennium Country Park, designed to provide strong colours, smells and sounds. The raised beds, pond and bog garden are designed to represent an easily accessible “potted” version of the rest of the park and provide the opportunity for a wide range of people to get close to nature.

Presently the potential of this area is not being fulfilled with leaks in the sensory garden pond and adjacent bog garden effecting water levels.

This project will rejuvenate this area of the park and increase the public’s involvement in its upkeep. This will be achieved through:

* Practical works which will improve the control of water levels and fix leaks within the water bodies.
* Involving the public in the re-planting of the water bodies once they have been fixed and planting new plants within the sensory garden.
* Getting the public to help design an information board to be installed within the garden.
