The Studio Community

Aims: to keep The Studio open as a Community Live Music & Creative Arts Centre, to stop noise nuisance to neighbours (complaints put our music licence at risk), conserve energy, improve the usability of the building for dance & drama groups by fitting side curtains (wings) to the stage, provide more storage for community instruments, improve the toilets, kitchen, and the interior of the building - it has been in constant use for the past 6 years. Some painting is at height and needs scaffolding so can't be done by volunteers. Biggest single expenditure: replacing boarded-up window holes with 4 new BIG arched windows, double gazed plus secondary glazing for maximum sound-proofing, minimal heat loss. The windows will improve the appearance of the building and will allow daylight into the main hall which will be a big improvement for daytime user-groups. This will also save on electricity as we won't need the lights on all day.
