The Town Mill, Totnes – Repair of Mill Wheel

The Town Mill is a 17th Century, detached, Grade II listed building. It was completely restored, at a cost of £250,000, in 1997. Since then the wooden parts of the mill wheel have, naturally, slowly rotted to the point that they all need replacing so that the wheel can turn safely again
The Mill is a significant, historic feature in the town centre. It is now unsafe for the wheel to turn. From being an attractive and interesting working feature of the town, it is now in a sorry state of disrepair and the internal workings of the mill can no longer be demonstrated.
