The Tree Sparrow project

This project will restore and enhance important habitats at Summer Leys Local Nature Reserve to benefit people and wildlife. The reserve is internationally important for its waterfowl and supports one of the largest populations of rare tree sparrows in Britain. Local volunteers will help with physical habitat improvements that are in line with the tree sparrow UK Biodiversity Action Plan (UK BAP). The project aims to i. Make physical improvements to the natural habitats to benefit tree sparrows ii. Engage new volunteers from the local community to care for their Local Nature Reserve iii. Highlight the plight of this rare species and raise awareness of the value of Summer Leys to local communities
