The Wildlife Trust BCN Old Sulehay

Old Sulehay nature reserve is a wonderful mosaic of habitats covering 85 hectares, including disused quarry, former arable fields and ancient woodland. Around a third of the site is limestone grassland, an increasingly rare habitat, which requires grazing to maintain biodiversity. Establishing new grazing compartments at Nassington Bottom and near the car park will enlarge the area under grazing. To achieve this we need new stock proof fencing, a trough and water supply. We need to remove scrub where it is encroaching on grassland, in both new and existing compartments, so that, in future, scrub can be controlled by increased grazing
