Thornhill Park Environmental Improvements Scheme

Thornhill Park is a large area of woodland and open communal green space which lies in the middle of a densely populated and deprived residential area on the North East edge of Southampton. Through extensive consultation with local residents and interested stakeholders, Groundwork Solent has identified that there is a significant need to improve the safety, reduce the fear of crime and improve the quality of the environment for local residents to enjoy. The overall aim is to turn a run down, poorly managed and abused park into a quality open space, which not only sympathetically works with the valuable assets already present (such as mature trees and views) but also takes into account the needs and aspirations of the local community
