Threave Education Room Improvements

Threave Bat Reserve has been significantly developed as the place in Scotland to learn about bats. A new Education programme will be launched to encourage schools to visit and learn about bats within the Curriculum for Excellence. The existing Education Room is cold and unappealing and in urgent need of renovation so that it can be comfortable and fit for purpose for children and adults to learn about bats and wildlife conservation.

The renovations will:
– strip out units in disrepair and replace
– replace floor coverings
– provide fixed projection facilities
– minor plumbing and electrical work
– provide wood burning stove for heating
– tables and chairs for the room and some equipment

With this improved facility:
– increased use by school classes for educational activities
– provide a pleasant room for presenting talks to the public, community groups, training for staff, volunteers and visitors on bat conservation, as well as displaying regular exhibitions on bat conservation.
