Tidy Lagan Project – Phase One

The aim of the Tidy Lagan Project is to improve the biodiversity within six indentified areas of the River Lagan Basin in Belfast. The project is divided into three phases and will run for three years. Phase one will address a depletion in both bird species and natural habitats in two areas adjacent to the river – Lower Ormeau and Donegall Pass. Both areas have suffered over the years due to an enormous investment in capital building projects along the river. This has destroyed many natural habitats and areas of interest, that have now fallen into neglect and wildlife both adjacent and in the river have suffered as a result. The aim of the project is to encourage the re-introduction of species, and revive habitats, whilst working alongside the local communities to educate them about Belfast’s Wildlife Heritage
