Toads on Roads Project

The Monikie Toad Crossing Volunteer Group are seeking additional measures to support amphibian conservation and rescue. The aims of the project are to put in toad friendly road measures along Panmure Road as well as an otter crossing under the road. This will help to reduce the mortality rate of toads and other amphibians as they try and cross the road to their spawning pond, Denfind Pond. The otter crossing will also allow the resident otters to and from the park reducing the risk of them being killed. The site at Monikie has one of the largest concentrations of toads annually migrating to their spawning ponds in the North East of Scotland.
