Transforming Neighbourhoods

Transforming Neighbourhoods’ refers to a section in M Shed, a new groundbreaking museum in Bristol, which represents different areas across the city and explores how local individuals have shaped their communities. ‘Transforming Neighbourhoods’ will form a continuous wrap around the walls of the ‘Bristol Places’ Gallery, and will explore how people who live and work in various Bristol communities have shaped the nature and feel of the area across time. Displays focus on ten specific neighbourhoods, half of which will be permanent, while others can be changed in the future. These neighbourhoods were selected to reflect geographical spread, show ethnic and social variety, and allow locals’ perceptions of different areas of Bristol to be challenged. Each ‘neighbourhood’ features images, information, objects and outputs of collaborative projects with community groups (some will also feature audio and video footage).
