Treading the Boards at Moorbridge Pond

At Moorbridge Pond, a wooden boardwalk across the marshy area of the nature reserve built more than a decade ago has now reached the end of its useful life, rotting in places and generally appearing unattractive. The new boardwalk will also include a dipping platform area suitable for use by local schools and families to take part in pond dipping activities with NWT’s education team or independently. The recycled plastic material also has a lifespan of over 30 years, making this a much more sustainable option than another wooden boardwalk. Linked with the new boardwalk we will also install a range of new interpretative features including boards, maps and signage to help visitors appreciate the natural value of the reserve as well as its historical significance.
