Turton Tower Woodland History Trail

We wish to create a path network through the woodland grounds of Turton Tower, linking the site to local trails. We aim to install interpretative signage and create nature and heritage trail leaflets to enable visitors to learn about the site in the context of the area,s industrial and social heritage.A water wheel currently in the storage on site would be moved to the mill race of the nearby community orchard linked to the site by a trail. We wish to carry out management work to improve the structure and diversity of the woodlands. We aim to restore and bring back into use the formal gardens and walled kitchen garden. The subsquent maintenance of these gardens would provide the opportunties for the public to engage in practical work on site under the direction of Friends of Turton Tower,We would like to extend and refurbish the existing toilets to provide better facilities for vistors and volunteers on site
