Works to be Completed: - Connect solar-powered water pumps for improved water management, protecting soils and allowing flexibility of grazing sensitive habitats. - Install solar powered electric fencing to support targeted grazing and habitat preservation. - Plant trees to create woodlands including “Green Barns” for livestock, providing natural shelter and climate resilience. Overarching Aims: - Transform Ughill Farm into a climate-resilient, nature-friendly upland farm. - Showcase sustainable farming practices that balance agricultural productivity with habitat restoration. - Create, expand, and connect natural habitats to support wildlife and biodiversity. Value to the Community and Environment: - Serve as a flagship site for sustainable farming, inspiring other farms in the region. - Protect and enhance habitats for species such as lapwing, curlew, skylark, and rare wildflowers. - Promote climate resilience and reduce environmental impact through renewable energy and sustainable land management.
