Upgrade of model railway building in Markeaton Park

The building we will lease from Derby City Council is an eyesore and unfit at present for public access. Our project to upgrade the building will help to improve the environment at a somewhat run-down end of Markeaton Park, Derby. The building needs a new roof (removal of asbestos), new electrics, insulation to reduce heat loss, access to disabled people, new emergency exit, new disabled toilet and rest room facility and making secure against vandalism and illegal entry.
When the building upgrade project is completed, late this year 2013, we will open the building to the public who can see our large model railway and learn about local railway history and about the role of railways in expanding and serving Derbyshire’s quarrying industry.
