Upgrade of the Men’s Toilet Facilities in the Harold Rankin Pavilion, Stambridge Community Centre, Rochford, Southend

This project is to upgrade the men’s toilet facilities at the Harold Rankin Pavilion. The men’s toilets in the Harold Rankin Pavilion are no longer fit for purpose. There is one toilet and three urinals, all of which are extremely old, badly chipped and stained. The ceiling is
stained with missing tiles and the doors do not fit properly. There is no hot water supply to the basin. This will be replaced with three separate urinals with a stainless steel trough, a new basin, and hot water supply. There will also be a new ceiling and door and a new Polysafe vinyl floor to make the facility hygienic and easier to keep clean.

The Harold Rankin Pavilion is used by many different groups in the local community. It is hired by the Corinthians Football Club, a dog training group, and the committee is currently working with a local catering company to hire the Pavilion for wakes and small gatherings. The Pavilion is hired to ‘Show Up’ Southend, which has won a grant to put on shows in the local area and has block booked for September. A disabled ramp with handrails has recently been installed with toilet facilities, making the Pavilion meet the necessary requirements in terms of access under the Equality Act of 2010.
