Upper River Ray – Enhancing & Restoring Floodplain Meadows

This project will restore and enhance 108 hectares of lowland meadows within the Upper Ray area. The aims of the project are to improve the quality and quantity of lowland meadow and floodplain grazing marsh and increase the breeding success of BAP target bird species in particular lapwing and curlew by reducing predation and increasing the quantity and quality of breeding habitat. In addition the project will increase the network of blackthorn dominated hedgerows to benefit black and brown hairstreak butterflies and farmland bird
