Upper Wincobank Chapel House, Sheffield - Pathways and Community Garden Improvements (2) (008310)

The project aims to create a safe, accessible and ecologically interesting space that is well used by the local community. Works include resurfaced paths to allow safer access to the grounds. Reinstating the patio will create a sheltered but sunny space for leisure and recreation activities. Refreshments can then be served from the Chapel House kitchen to the outdoor seating area increasing opportunities for social interaction. Exercise classes can take place in the fresh air helping to improve health and wellbeing. Volunteers will transform neglected areas of the garden into wildlife areas with wildflower beds, bug hotels and nesting boxes to increase the biodiversity of the grounds and provide a natural space where children can learn about ecosystems. The improvements will attract interest from the local community leading to an increase in volunteers.
