Upperdown Meadow, Draycott - Outdoor Community Wellbeing Facility (008352)

Elephant Rooms is a community Health and Wellbeing hub providing a diverse range of natural therapies, classes, workshops, courses and support groups for the local community with a particular focus on mental health. The Project seeks to make these services accessible to all, through offering concessions, donation and free activities.
The project will:
•create a safe, inspirational, creative, educational and inclusive space for people,
•deliver activities focused on physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing
•support nature recovery and enhance biodiversity
•integrate the land within the community
•be sensitive to the land and its sense of place
The project is to develop the infrastructure and welfare facilities necessary to enable and sustain these nature recovery and nature-based wellbeing activities.

The development of Upperdown Meadow is a response to community engagement and feedback. It responds to and is informed by national and local policy and strategy regarding nature recovery, biodiversity, community based health and well-being and the importance of nature connection to wellbeing. The practical purpose of this project is to deliver the infrastructure elements that will support access for the wider community to take part in nature recovery and wellbeing activities at the site. Open to all, the project will help deliver nature recovery priority habitats of lowland meadow and wet woodland while contributing to community led mental, physical and spiritual health. It will extend Elephant Rooms social impact contributing to social cohesion, the sense of belonging, reduction in isolation and loneliness, helping people particularly with anxiety and depression.
