Valence Park, Dagenham – MUGA (006178)

To redevelop the derelict Valence Park Games Area to provide a family-inclusive space that accommodates more activities and ages concurrently. Rather than a ‘teenage cage’, the plan is to develop a community facility in line with the new Mayor of London ‘Sport Unites’ social inclusion strategy.

Since project inception,there has been consultation with park users and members of the local community to ensure the new play area meets the needs of current users and attract families who don’t yet use the park.

This MUGA will be an inter-generational facility, encouraging the whole family to be active together. As well as the traditional basketball and football, it will provide additional space for game walls and there are already plans for a roller-skating session for teenage women.
