Vane Farm Wetland Biodiversity Enhancement Programme

The UK BAP habitat Coastal & Floodplain Grazing Marsh at Vane Farm was created on former arable land since its acquisition in 1996. Original surveys/targets have been met and 10 years on, we are looking at the next phase in maximising the biodiversity of this area. The reserve forms the largest wetland area within the Loch Leven National Nature Reserve and Special Protection Area and this project will increase the biodiversity value of the reserve by further improving and extending the area of this important UKBAP habitat through scrub clearance, re-profiling of land and the construction of new water control structures.
