Veracity Recreation Ground, Southampton – New Play Equipment and Biodiversity Improvements (008100)

Improving Veracity play area. Currently a number of old pieces of equipment that are due for renewal and the play area has been ‘patched’ over the years meaning there is an assortment of play features that don’t ‘flow’ and the flooring is a mix too. Overall the play area is not well designed for stimulated use and imaginative play. Older children are not well catered for.
The project is to redesign and implement a better use of the space, by moving existing pieces that are in good condition and adding in some new equipment to maximise the stimulation of physical and mental play by the children, including some imagination play features. The plan is to also add elements of natural play and some new landscaping to increase the interaction with their natural environment. There are also inclusive and accessible features and social seating.
