Vicarage Lane Play Park

To set up and run a play and sports park in Seven Kings, Ilford. This will include a multi-use games area (MUGA), play space, outdoor gym with tree planting and landscaping to enhance the local environment. Presently the site is former allotments. It is unattractive visually and without much diversity for wildlife.

This is an area of deprivation (in top 20% most deprived areas in England. 31% of local children are in workless households) with mainly newly built flats and social housing lacking play space. The nearest park entrance is 3/4 miles away and involves crossing busy roads.

It is a diverse area with families from many different ethnic and religious backgrounds. This facility will help bring a disparate community together. By providing space for activities will help young people have outlets for their energies and development, reducing the incidence of local youth crime and anti-social behaviour.

Trees and hedges will also be planted creating a wildlife habitat otherwise limited in Redbridge.
