Victoria Park Pond Project St Helens

The pond currently is unable to be used for pond studies as there is little wildlife in it due a high concrete plinth preventing amphibians to move in and out of the pond. Trees surrounding the pond create low light levels and plants from establishing leading to a lack of fauna. Through this project and additional HLF funds trees will be removed, the pond edges will be regraded, pond plants replanted, wildflower turf laid, a duck ramp constructed and wildlife changes will be monitored throughout the improvements by local schools and colleges, new gates will create access for school groups to enable pond dipping sessions in the future as conditions improve.
