Victoria Terrace, Eastwood

Eastwood, formerly a thriving mill community in a steeply-sided part of the calder valley, is surrounded on all sides by all the major transport routes (road, rail, canal). It lost ALL its amenities in the 1900s, but still has 1000 residents. The predominant housing is Victoria Terrace which adjoins/overlooks the cricket ground. A ground-breaking Lottery-funded Agreement with the Cricket Club transformed an underused Pavilion into a social centre for residents and LCF funding opened up public access across the pitch by creating a link path from the A646 to the canal (Sustrans National Route 66). A prominent accessway to the rear of the historic Terrace is badly degraded/unsightly and now needs restoration.
