Walmer Tennis Club, Bury – Court resurfacing & floodlights

To install floodlights on two of 4 courts, resurface 2 courts, repaint 2 courts, new fencing around all 4 courts. Funding is specifically towards court resurfacing.

The project is to allow increased participation for the whole of the local community including, diverse groups and local primary schools who currently use the facility in what is a socially deprived area. If the project is not completed the facilities will become unusable in the near future.

The provision of floodlights will significantly increase the availability of the facility to members of the local community and open the facility up to a wider range of groups who will be able to access the site in the evenings, in addition to making the facility more accessible for its existing use as a tennis facility. Two of the courts are not fit for use at present and the other two courts are quite dangerous due to some moss infiltration.
